21st Century Schools
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Our schools are increasingly coming under pressure to become 21st Century Schools and Schools of the Future….but what does this mean? Broadly, these phrases refer to the day to day use of technology not only inside the classroom as a teaching & learning tool but also outside the classroom, for example; duties such as front office administration, teacher journals and monitoring and tracking of students.
An abundance of physical technology/hardware in a school is certainly not a means to becoming branded as 21st Century. Teaching our students skills such as collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking and aspiring to educate our students in languages of the future (or present!) such as Chinese can also contribute to your school being at the forefront of teaching and learning. Paying close attention to the shift in the job markets and the lifestyles which we are now living will also help to build better and future proofed education system for our children. Delivering an ICT curriculum along with the skills of computer programming and coding are essential to filling the jobs gap which we are about to face in the coming years, addressing these areas now are our Schools of the Future, the 21st century Schools which we speak about.
