3D Modelling & 3D Printing
COURSE DESCRIPTION
3D modelling is the representation of object surfaces in a 3D (3 dimensional) manner. This is most notably done using specialised 3D software using a high spec computer.
Some students might already be familiar with this process of representing objects in 3D, practical subjects such as; Technology, Engineering, Construction Studies and design Communication Graphics encourages students to use 3D software for the design of project parts.
3D modelling is now used in variety of industries where companies can now design their own parts in house. In addition to this we have recently witnessed the evolution of 3D printing which enables companies, and individuals, to simply print their 3D design upon completion of their final part. There is very little limitation to the complexity of printing available and this is proving to be an exciting time for those involved in this area.
This workshop primarily focusses on the development of an assigned 3D project. Students will not just learn the skills of creating objects in 3D but they will also be lead through the product design stages; Analysis of the task, Investigation & Research, Possible solutions, Final solution, Product Design, Evaluation.
Students will present their final designs on the last day of the workshop.
