WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Programming is a necessary 21st Century skill which is overlooked by much of our education system today. All our students are now entering an increasingly fast paced digital workforce which relies on having skilled programmers and people who understand the concepts of programming. In previous times there was a preconception that only the gifted and skilled could excel within the computer science area but now our students are starting to programme as young as 4 years old.

Learning computer programming at an early age in primary school will help improve critical thinking and problem solving skills, algorithmic thinking and ultimately benefit the meta-cognition process which has proven benefits related to self-monitoring and independent learning.

During this workshop for primary students we will explore the introductory world of computer programming. This will be done through the early explanation of pseudocode and then moving onto visual programming challenges. Visual programming consists of using a drag and drop child friendly interface. Workshops are fun and interactive and we often have visiting industry guest speakers to view examples of the fantastic student work.

Cost

Each student workshop is €75 per student per week.
