WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Web development is a broad term for the work involved in developing a web site for the Internet. While the term ‘web developer’ and ‘web designer’ are often used to portray the same job, they do not mean the same thing. The truth is that the terms reference two fundamentally different aspects of the website building process and require two unique skill sets.

Web development can range from developing the simplest static single page of plain text to the most complex web-based internet applications, electronic businesses, and social network services, while a web designer only designs website interfaces using HTML and CSS.

This workshop will introduce students to the wide world or web development. In our view, knowing the concepts of how a website is built, designed and how it functions is critical skill in this day and age. Students will not only develop their own basic website using HTML on a topic/area of their choice but they will also learn how to optimise their website so they can be found using search engines. There is a very interesting background to this workshop and students will most certainly gain an appreciation for how the World Wide Web functions.

On the final day students will present their completed websites and prizes will be awarded for various categories.

Cost

Each student workshop is €75 per student per week.
